Batu Caves In KL Experience With Kids

Batu Caves in Selangor Gombak was one of the site attraction I wanted to bring the kids for their outdoor experience.

We took a cab from our place near the KLCC and it costs us around Rm20 for about half an hour ride.

We reached at about 9.30 and it rained a while before it stopped.

My wife had worn a short so she needed to rent a sarong to cover her legs for religious purpose.

The site boasts a huge Hindhu God that oversees the huge cave inside.

To get into the caves, we needed to climb over 200 steps and I wanted to bring that challenge to the kids.

There were many birds at the ground floor which was an amazing feat to watch.

We started our ascend upwards and we took a couple of family shots because the landscape was just simply too beautiful not to take.

Midway through the climb, we saw a few monkeys jumping around for attention. They were mild and only aggressive towards those who brought and tempted them with food. Else, they'd mostly just ignore you.

When we get to the top, exhausted of course, we were greeted by a pretty awesome cave that were overlooking the nature.

There were a couple of the Hindhu God, prayer and symbols going on so we just looked around.

Overall, if you are like me and enjoy nature and cultural at its very best, then I'd recommend a visit to the Batu Caves.

It. Is. Something a little different that your typical KL city life.

Bricklive Event Jakarta - PIK Avenue

Bricklive is having its own tour event around the world and it hits Jakarta this June which runs for about 10 days from the 7 to 17 Jun 2018.

They are for the hardcore lego fans for children between the age of 4 to 12 who has a creativity adopt minded with bricks and lego and to build them into something magnificent.

We happened to be around in town so we participated this event with the children.

The tickets are not very cheap because they charge the adults the same price as they did for the children at about Rph 160,000 (about SGD16) each.

There were a few sections with different various themes and the first that we went right away is the Star Wars theme with all the cool planes that intrigued the kids.

Star Wars Theme

Making the planes

Analyzing in progress...

3..2..1..Go
The Flying Rollans

We moved on to F.R.I.E.N.D.S theme after that where it is friendlier to the smaller children.

There were boats, ships, planes, cars, firetrucks and many more and plenty of competition for the children to put on their creativity head.

Goodman Arts Center - Perfect For Your School Holiday Activities

We were on the hunt again for some school holiday activities and we found a good bargain at the Goodman Arts Center where they are having an open house for some fun activities.

The one day festival takes on a theme on reimagining creative ways of art in an environmentally sustainable fashion which is a great way to introduce to the kids.

We took an IG photo right in front of the gate before proceeding to the center stage.

We were introduced to a few DIY organic plant seeds which we bought. We decide to choose the Sunflower because they were very crunchy when I tried and this was a good education for the kids to plant their own seeds at home.

There were also a few short arts performance by students in the center stage which we enjoyed.

The weather was scorching hot so we settled for lunch at the nearby Cafe Melba.

We headed for lunch slightly earlier before the long queue was formed.

The pricing for the food is rather expensive I must admit but there were little choices when we were there.

And this was our view from the lunch area... Great view!!!

We have the kids running around too for the playing area in the open field and the bouncing area which was crowded with the other older kids.

Overall, it was a great weekend to enjoy outdoor activities and we enjoyed ourselves immensely.

Country Garden Danga Bay - Airbnb Review

We were deciding to venture out for a little during the long weekend break leading to the Labor day holiday but didn't want anything far and too expensive so we decide a stay on our neighbouring city, Johor Bahru for 4D3N.

In the past, we had always used to stay at the KSL Resort because it provides convenience having direct access to the mall. But given that we are traveling with an extended members, we want a place where it could provide us more comfort and room to stretch, hence we decided on Airbnb this time round.

The Airbnb place we booked this time round is a nice 2 bedroom stay at the Country Garden Danga Bay, an up and coming area of apartment (Link Here).

If you have not signed up previously, you can sign up at the below link here and get a straight $25 credits to use immediately.

The place was an easy find and is about 10 minutes drive from the custom of woodlands. It is also in close proximity to the new Paradigm mall, which is a super huge mall located at the highway of Skudai road.

When we first entered the apartment, we immediately feel homely because the place is designed in such a cute and relaxing ambience that gets us straight into the holiday rhythm.

The living room was spacious enough for us and the kitchen and utensils were complete. There was also a washing machine which we utilized during our visit.

At night, we would spend time watching the television in HD enjoying the homely presence of the environment.

Joelle, the host, was also kind enough to provide toys and storybooks for the children which we read to them every night. She was also very responsive to our queries which I think is a nice personal touch to add on.

There was also a nearby supermarket which we always go to for some snacks, bread and water before we head back to our apartment.

Facilities

The apartment also boasts facilities such as gym and swimming pool which we didn't utilize during our stay there because it kept raining in the evening when we were about to gear up for swimming.

In the morning, we went down to breathe some fresh air and play a couple of times in the playground area which the kids enjoyed very much. The views were also magnificent from the top looking down into the beach and sea.

Private Beach

The private man-made beach is located within proximity in the country club garden which was just a 5 minute walk from our apartment.

Night Market

We were there during the long weekend and the premise has an event that hosts the night market.

We went during one of our stay and head down to the night market which sells plenty of small eats such as smelly toufu, bubble tea, chicken chop, lu rou fan, etc. We decide to take some home and eat them in our apartment while enjoying the television which is screening Avengers.

Transportation

We "Grab" our way throughout the 4 days we stay there and the fare was extremely cheap.

For example, it costs us just about RM8 from our place to Paradigm mall or the Komtar JBCC when we head out there. Even during one of the peak high surge timing, we had to only pay RM15 which was way within our comfort zone level.

A quick tips is to ask the grab driver to meet up at the country club just outside the Starbucks area, it was a smooth and easy find throughout.

Overall

We were really satisfied with our stay and would recommend anyone who wants a quick getaway for the weekend to book with Joelle as she is a really nice host that would care much for her tenants as well as her lovely apartment in terms of providing quality and homely service.

We also used a private transfer from Singapore which costs $75 one way which so far is the cheapest option I can find on the market. You can PM me for those that are interested.
